Vested Property Act

Posted by: kafirqueen   in Bangladesh, Hinduism, Islam, Politics

Oppression does not only occur in a violent physical form. Mental, political and lawful oppression is rampant in Bangladesh and many times is the hardest to document and prove.

However one such example that is blatant and a travesty to the secular nature of the birth of Bangladesh is the Vested Property Act (aka Enemy Property Act). The act in practice right now applies predominantly to Hindus. So if a member of a family leaves Bangladesh for India due to personal/political reasons the government takes ownership of the land. No such law is in place for people of other religions. There has to be no written proof just insinuation. Cases have occurred that when the owner of the land dies in Bangladesh a claimant will declare that the deceased has gone to India, in order to grab their land. Such a disgusting violation of humans rights is rampant and commonplace in Bangladesh. Read the wikipedia article for more info.

Interesting thing was the fact that Awami League maintained this law rather than ditching it. They are supposed to be the “champion” of minority rights.

Look Ripon da, if a person in the world helps you in the time of need, that person is the person that you would think is sacrificing his life for that. But Awami League is looking for the vote and they still have the look for those Muslims.
If you look, you can see a lot of Muslim Awami League supporters who can’t stand Hindus. Then you will also find Muslim BNP supporters who likes the Hindus. But the only thing that is different is the amount in these values of people. So if they look at us all the time, then they are the real champion. Not till then.

Being a Bangladeshi, I along with others engaged ourselves in a property development scheme in Bangladesh, I was chosen amongst the directors to lead the company as the managing director and had little option’s but to go to Bangladesh, after spending 4 years of my life for the first time in Bangladesh I feel both embarrassed as well as ashamed of myself to be a Bangladeshi, I have found nothing to feel proud of myself, as a matter of fact its disgusting, being an individual who’s profession relates to real estates, I haven’t come across a legal act concerning real estate issues which benefit’s neither the people or the government, and amongst these pathetic acts is an act known as vested property commonly known as enemy property which is totally out of context.
