Road to ’75

Shiekh Hasina: PM of Bangladesh

Shiekh Hasina: PM of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a flourishing country with a large Muslim population. Recently, Bangladesh has been called different things, due to its growing Islamic extremism. Different governments have played a mixed role in fighting Islamic extremism. Presently, the Awami League government, which won the parliamentary elections with a large majority, has given the highest priority to fighting Islamic extremism.

Local and international media is covering the activities of the government against Islamic extremist groups. The government is trying to prove that Islamic extremism is going to be uprooted soon.

But the reality is very different. The Islamic extremists are growing and gathering more strength as the government initiates operations to uproot extremism. The reality is that the Islamic extremists are better equipped and strategically stronger than ever.

There are 786 high profile people in important positions of power that are closely linked with different Islamic extremist groups. Among these 786, there are 200 high-ranking government officials, including 76 individuals from the different intelligence agencies of the Bangladesh government, 20 powerful parliamentarians, and 7 high profile media personalities in different news media to fight the intellectual battle and propagate news and views in favor of the Islamic extremist groups.

The government failed to trace these 786 people and their national and international links. These 786 are working to create a scenario like what happened in Bangladesh in 1975, with the assassination of the “father of the nation” Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. As Rahman was assassinated, so will Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina if the government fails to fight these 786. Through the masses, the liberation in 1971 came about, and through the assignation of Sheikh Hasina will we be able to triumph over the tragedy of 1975.

A Muslim mother of four was brutally attacked by villagers because she simply talked to a Hindu. This incident is the example of Bangladesh fast moving towards degrading Islamic Shariah law and also the vibrant rise of support for Islamic fascist ideologies as claimed by the article.

This also rises questions about the rights of women in Bangladesh. I hope government takes proper actions to help the mother rehabilitate.

DHAKA (AFP) — A Muslim mother has been caned for talking to a Hindu man in Bangladesh, police said Saturday, prompting fresh concerns about a rise in cases of harsh treatment of women under strict Islamic law.

The punishment was carried out in a remote village in Muslim-majority Bangladesh on the orders of village elders, local police chief Enamul Monowar told AFP by telephone.

The village elders found Kamala Begum, 38, a mother of four, guilty under Islamic sharia law of chatting with an unidentified Hindu man, Monowar said. Hindus make up around 10 percent of Bangladesh’s population.

“The villagers got bundles of 25 sticks and hit her four times on the back. They claimed it was a symbolic punishment. But she’s humiliated and has been in great mental pain,” Monowar said.

It was the third such reported case in two weeks in the country and stirred concern among women’s groups in Muslim-majority but officially secular Bangladesh, about what they say is a rise in the brutal treatment of women under locally applied Islamic laws.

Bangladesh: A Nation under blended conspiracy

Bangladeshi BDR Massacre

Bangladeshi BDR Massacre

Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) is a paramilitary force in Bangladesh known by the Bangladeshi as “The Vigilant Sentinels of Our National Frontier”. With a total manpower of 67,000, organized into a central headquarters and various sectors, battalions and border outposts, mainly along the frontiers BDR’s primary task is to patrol and secure Bangladesh’s 2,500-mile border with both neighboring India and Myanmar.

Day after the BDR Week -2009 a mutiny was staged from 25th to 27th February 2009 in Dhaka by non-commissioned officers of the Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) against their commanding officers of the Bangladesh Army. By the second the fighting spread to 12 other cities and town.

Bangladesh Rifles had brought a 22 point demand which include the withdrawal of regular army officer and set original BDR members on the posts. Almost 150 Army officers who served in BDR was killed by the regular BDR soldiers mutinied against the senior officials, including the Dhaka BDR Sector Commander Colonel Mujib and the Director General of BDR, Major General Shakil Ahmed. Prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, promised amnesty for those who surrendered and tough action against any holdouts.

In 27th February 2009, the government announced two days of national mourning after scores of army officers were killed in a BDR mutiny. In 27th February 2009 the government announced the a new director general for the troubled border guards Bangladesh Rifles and said the general amnesty will not be for those who “directly” took part in killings.

Previously between 1991 and 1996, the lower tier of BDR had staged mutinies in Dhaka, Chittagong, Feni, Jessore, Khulna and Naogaon, expressing similar grievances. Those mutinies did not witness bloodshed and the jawans were assured of measures addressing their issues which were ultimately shelved.

The guards had been demanding improved pay and working conditions, and accused the Director General of embezzling their wage bonuses.

The mutiny caused countrywide tension. The described revolt of BDR is a loud signal of wide democratic defect in Bangladesh. Bangladesh had hardly come back to its own traditional democracy with a traditional guardianship of International community through the parliament election 2009. But it was widely questioned that the country is still under technical military regime. On the other hand by the opposition party it was widely questioned about the election naming selection.

The role of powerful instrument of Army the military intelligence DGFI was even widely questioned by the several government MPs in the national parliament. The use of military intelligence in public matters was highly criticized and demanded to ban by the MPs in the parliament. The role of DGFI was internationally questioned on the issue of cross border terror patronization with the help of Pakistani military intelligence ISI. The DGFI operate different project against neighboring India joint ventures with ISI.

During the BNP coalition government the son of collaborator Golam Azam, the former Jamait-e-Islami chief Brigadier Azam Mir serves as his chief deputy DGFI until 2007. Any many Jamat bcaked people were placed in different important place in the state machinery including the Army and other security forces.

This is highly believed that as the present government is plaming to bring the war criminal in trail soon so the Jamat- e –Islami collaborating with its channeled Islamic fascist officials in forces along with the full planning support of Pakistani intelligence ISI they plot this conspiracy against Bangladesh. Their main target was to kill the prime minister Sheik Hasina wazed .

But as a result of Isalmization and polaticalization the BDR accused of pushing illegal immigrants and aiding smugglers across the Indo-Bangladesh border. The BDR seems frequently involved in skirmishes with its Indian counterpart, the Border Security Force (BSF). In the aftermath of the border skirmish at the Boroibari post in April 2001, the BSF lodged a First Information Report complaining of international war crimes against BDR for the ‘inhuman’ killing of 16 BSF soldiers. It’s a open question before the nation that is this the same BDR who are well known for its past legacy of sacrifice and honor .BDR’s members took up arms in a controlled manner against the Pakistan Army during the liberation war of 1971. Several members earned gallantry awards – for example, Lance Naik Nur Mohammad Sheikh and Lance Naik Munshi Abdur Rouf earned the highest gallantry award, the Bir Sreshtha; 8 others were awarded the Bir Uttam, 40 other the, Bir Bikram and 91 the Bir Patik.

Now this BDR took up arms to kill brutally the Army officials and innocent civilians. Before they were accused for killing of friendly neighbor security officals and now there are killing the Bangladeshi. It’s a open question before that nation is Bangladesh forwarding toward another 1975, the reputation of shameful history or forwarding towards civil war?

Why? No Answer?

Posted by: Sodeep    in Bangladesh, Hinduism

Before writing this article, I had tested some of my idea with the help of the internet. I used the Facebook and the help from amarblog.com to do this. amarblog.com is a site made by a Hindu man (that is what I know) and it is here where you can write anything you like. It can be free to write about anything from your point of view on religion to politics to even daily life stories. Also, I saw that their slogan was “It is my blog, whatever it can be”. So I wrote a little article about bangladeshihindu.com in that blog.

I got really scared at the fact that came up in the comments. You can have a look at those comments here, but they are all in Bengali. I titled my article New Site. What came was really really awful. The second comment said “I didn’t look at the site and posted a comment. Now I am going to kick you out. You Indian f**ker.” When the third comment came, it said that it liked the site and told me to change some phonetic version of the site. But the 1, 2nd commenter commented again. Now he said: Its for Indians. There are problems between Hindus and Muslim, which is not a problem. But look at the look at the problem in Bangladesh. To make a problem here, these bi**h have come. When another person named creation101 started writing back to him with all those bad languages, the problem rose some more. The first user named Makorsha or Spider said “The people from India always think grammar first, not the people from North America. And I am from there you stupid.”

Then Sourav joined spider and started to blame creation101. calling him a scoundrel. Another user named arirang said “Spider, I cannot stop thanking you. Kick them all out of here”. It continued and continued making fun of me and fun of what I wrote and the site. No one was thinking that if there are sites about Muslims, then why cannot there be any for Hindus and even if they wanted to blame us, they should have kept it with convincing words, not curses.

Then I wrote another small article in that blog about Qur’an in Facebook. Its about this new application that has come out about the Qur’an. First I got a lot of start, all 5 out of 5. Then I got two comments thanking me for posting something that is this valuable.
You can have a look at it here: http://amarblog.com/ssdt/25829

So what should I generalize at last? Should I say that these Muslims can only think about themselves. They think that anything else than Muslim is awful. But did the Qur’an say that they should do something like that? Or are they only using the Qur’an as a backup of everything that they do? They want to prove that their religion is the best and where can they have peace then they don’t have peace between themselves?

These questions will not be answered. But if you have a comment about this, please let me know. I would like to hear more from Muslims who have studied their religion and tell me if this is told in their religion. And if not, I am still looking for the answer of why they are doing this. If you can help me find the answer for that, please post comments.

A True Experience

Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism, Politics

This is a memoir of my life when I was living in Bangladesh. I had moved to the United States after some months after this incident. It is my true experience on the racism that was going on against us, the Hindus of Bangladesh. We all know that Bangladesh is a country that is mostly populated by the Muslims. I myself do not think that it is bad that it happens like that. But the fact that we are not allowed to keep our beliefs and the things together will keep all the things there.

It was the Durga Puja in our village house. It was full of all the people of the village who were all happy to celebrate in this festival. But here there seemed to be some problems. It was one year after the BNP government was taken in for the governing body for the country. So there seemed to be problems for the Hindus in that village from the beginning of this and that is why we had some police in our house so that they would fix any problems that we faced when the festival was going on.

My grandfather, an old man who was about 81-84 years old was in the festival and working had to make the festival great for anyone who came to see it. But then there came two 19-21 year old boy. They were smoking in the front of the festival ground. It is all fine with the work festival until they came to the front of the God and they were all making all the ash from their cigarette to fall in front of the God. They even asked and forced my Grandfather to give them more of these smoke. We he refused they got mad at him and all of us came together to to force them get out of our house area. But they were refusing to get out of the area. Even the police were not doing anything for the work.

So they all cursed our God and saying bad words for the the family when they left. From then on we knew that this was the last for our Durga Puja and it was all done for the good for us because we knew we would not have a great time again if we try this festival again.

Racist Comment Against BangladeshiHindu.com Writers!

   Posted by: Neer    in Hinduism

I am really sad to announce that the third comment of the site came from someone named “Shahin” with the claimed email address “nosaid@ymail.com.”

This was his comment, “মাদারচোদেরা সব একখানে হইছছ দেখি। খাড়া তোদের বোনরে আগে চুইদা লই। তারপর তগোরে দেখমু। শালা, মালাউনের বাচ্চা।” (Translation: All motherf**kers have come together I see. Wait, let me f**k your sisters and then I will see you all. Sala, sons of Malowan). Malowan is an offensive term like “nigger” for black people.

This message was posted from Dhaka, Bangladesh. The Internet Service Provider was “Grameen Phone.” If this continues we will be forced to inform the Internet Service Provider and have them take actions against you.

This is tremendously outrageous and it really proves the need for an united force among Hindus. Comments like these really encourage us to keep going. It gives us a reason to keep fighting. We will keep fighting. These types of simple online comments are not going to slow us down rather encourage us to write more.

United we stand against hate.

Jai Sri Ram!
