William Gomes: Bangladeshi Human Rights Activist

I am William Gomes a Human rights activist and a freelance journalist from Bangladesh. I do used to run a small human rights organization called “Christian Development Alternative (CDA). I am also a converted Christian. I was harassed by police many times.  we do work with our small effort to protect the rights of the minorities specially.

Today 8th July 2009 ,two police official form special Branch of police under the City SB came to my house around 6 o clock in the evening. One police official said, who is William Nicholas Gomes. They said we are looking for you. We are from city SB of police. Our senior official wants to talk to you. He ringed from his cell and gave me the
mobile phone, from other side a man, asked me what you was doing in India in February. Come to my office tomorrow, my high officials wants to know more.

I said to him that I will go to prime minister’s office tomorrow early in the morning and then I will go to UNDP local office for pre fixed meeting. Than the man from the other side to go to his office in Bialy road in Saturday.The man was the Additional Sp of city SB. I will go to his office on Saturday. I will give you update. What is going on.
For last two years, I have been harassed by police only for my religious identity and works for minorities.

I am drawing your urgent attention on the issue of bias manner of a police officer SI Mr. Shariful on case of investigation of a case (case number 33) filed in Sutrapur police station dated on  11-05-09 under the crpc section  380.

On this case the petitioner Adv.Rabindra Ghosh claimed that some unknown people have stole a video camera from ISCKON temple Swamibag . And the petitioner allegedly involved me on the incident; the fact is I am not aware of said camera at all. More than that the petitioner provoked the Sebait and Executor of Swamibag Ashram Shri Jasada Nandan Acharjee to witness against me that “He saw that I took the camera”. Mr. Acharjee has told the fact to Investigative officer SI Shariful. The IO is not pointing the statement in note.

I am shocked at this false case. I am felling really helpless. As you are human rights
defender I need your help, I have protested the false attempt to tie me with the case to the DC wari. The Dc Wari seems very helpful.

I am always committed to fight the Terrorism for my position with the allies of  in different countries and recently, I had sit with Mr. Ahmad Karim Nawabi, the Afghan ambassador to Bangladesh and share my concern about fighting the growing the

Islamic Terrorism and on regular basis I am sharing all the available information in fighting the Islamic terrorism in the south Asia to the international community. I have penned different articles in different international media in focusing the problem and possibilities in Bangladesh.

As PRP is on the way to transform police force to Police Service, I hope that you will take it note that the Investigative should take proper note that I am being harassed by the ill motive of Adv.Rabindra Ghosh. I myself protested on some case where the Advocate showed a normal eloped case to a forced conversion to Islam. The case was also submitted to UN.  Through my mail I had also request PRP to investigate on the aggressive attitude towards the police officials.

I also want to request to make it sure the police should make it sure, why Adv.Rabindra had provoked Shri Jasad Nandan Acharjee to witness against me strongly. The irresponsible attitude of police officer like SI Shariful is hampering my attention in fighting the growing Islamic terrorism.

As journalist and human rights activist I just went to find out the issues of forced conversion .But I am in problem for the irresponsible attitude of the police officer of Bangladesh police. I also request to the international community to write to the government to insure a   free and fare investigation.

Shiekh Hasina: PM of Bangladesh

Bangladesh is a flourishing country with a large Muslim population. Recently, Bangladesh has been called different things, due to its growing Islamic extremism. Different governments have played a mixed role in fighting Islamic extremism. Presently, the Awami League government, which won the parliamentary elections with a large majority, has given the highest priority to fighting Islamic extremism.

Local and international media is covering the activities of the government against Islamic extremist groups. The government is trying to prove that Islamic extremism is going to be uprooted soon.

But the reality is very different. The Islamic extremists are growing and gathering more strength as the government initiates operations to uproot extremism. The reality is that the Islamic extremists are better equipped and strategically stronger than ever.

There are 786 high profile people in important positions of power that are closely linked with different Islamic extremist groups. Among these 786, there are 200 high-ranking government officials, including 76 individuals from the different intelligence agencies of the Bangladesh government, 20 powerful parliamentarians, and 7 high profile media personalities in different news media to fight the intellectual battle and propagate news and views in favor of the Islamic extremist groups.

The government failed to trace these 786 people and their national and international links. These 786 are working to create a scenario like what happened in Bangladesh in 1975, with the assassination of the “father of the nation” Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. As Rahman was assassinated, so will Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina if the government fails to fight these 786. Through the masses, the liberation in 1971 came about, and through the assignation of Sheikh Hasina will we be able to triumph over the tragedy of 1975.

Bangladesh government is going to form a single high-powered bureaucratic commission to control the activates NGOs. The commission will include of representatives from the social welfare ministry, home ministry foreign ministry, Bangladesh Bank, Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and Firms and the NGO Bureau.

Social welfare minister Minister Enamul Haque Mostafa Shahid said the commission will be named as “National Social commission to control the NGOs”. The Ngo registration will include pre registration police verification. The commission will be powered with the power to cancel registrations of any organizations.

After the recent flashing of the Islamic extremist outfit NGOs the government took up this speedy decision. Although the NGO filed needs the urgent attention to democratize and modernize effort. By the recent initiative of the government the whole Ngo filed will face challenges. Buy this initiative of the government the Ngo registration process will be more controlled by the bureaucrat and the development process of the nation will be more politicized. A large number of major NGOs are politically active. Government is taking this immature to control the NGOs from to engage in sustained political action. Recently we have experienced a political party” United citizen movement” come out from a NGO movement of a national Ngo called “Prosikha”. A certain number of Bangladeshi NGOs are active in global politics. The NGos are not influencing directly in politics but technically influencing the policy making. By the recent immature initiative of government is trying enforcing new type of politicized charitable political activity, based on an arbitrary, illogical and controversial definition of politics.

Both domestic and global politics, policy-making will obviously demonized rather than democratic without the active participation of NGOs. NGOs do have a great impact in equipping the democratic system in Bangladesh.

The NGO bureau has his legacy of mass corruption and uncensored political and Intelligence dictatorship. From registration to fund release a mass corruption in different doors the NGOs are experiencing. The Bureaucratic dictatorship is number one reason behind this. “National Social commission to control the NGOs” will make it loud.

There are 78 thousands NGO registered with different government instrument. Finance minister Muhith said that the existing money laundering law is enough to prevent militancy financing. So it’s an open question to the nation, why the government is trying to control the NGOs.

By the immature initiative of the government to control the NGOs the Development of the country will face a great challenge and the GDP will notably go down. The foreign donation and foreign donor will move to new destination.

The government should help the NGO person to work more effectively and insure the free and smooth working process by insuring the accountability.

The government should form a special commission to focus only on the Islamic Terrorism and related issues.

Fascism Funded by Islamic NGOs

Nongovernmental organizations (NGOs) play a vital role in a developing country like Bangladesh. The number of NGOs in Bangladesh is in excess of 78,000 by the midst of the year 2009 registered with five different government instruments.  

The news that Islamic NGOs with foreign funds are fueling the Islamic militancy was bubbling all over Bangladesh. The Daily Star said that suspected NGOs include Rabita Al-Alam Al-Islami, Al-Muntada Al- Islami, Society of Social Reforms, Qatar Charitable Society, Islamic Relief Agency, Al-Forkan Foundation, International Relief Organisation, Kuwait Joint Relief Committee, Muslim Aid Bangladesh, Dar Al-Khair, Hayatul Igachha, and Tawheed-e-Noor.  

The daily New Age of Bangladesh wrote, “During the previous BNP-led alliance government, some 473 local and 25 foreign NGOs were enlisted with the NGO Affairs Bureau. One hundred and twenty-nine of them are local and eight foreign NGOs who were enlisted in the financial year 2006-07. Since 1990, the NGO Bureau has approved 2,367 local and foreign NGOs who run on foreign funding.” 

When the Bangladesh National Party-led alliance government was in power, 90,000 core taka (approx. US$1,300) in foreign donations, in the name of 11,000 NGOs, came into Bangladesh. That amount is nearly equal to the government’s financial budget for the year 2009, which is 99,962 core taka (approx. US$1,450).  

The main process of registering an NGO and funding its operations is highly dependent upon the bureaucracy. That was and is the main reason that NGO activities in Bangladesh have become politicized. As a result of this, during the term of the BNP-led alliance government, the institutional outfit of the Islamic fascist interest triumphed. 

The NGO registration process involves some powerful intelligence instruments of the government, such as the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI), the National Security Intelligence (NSI), and the Special Branch of the Bangladesh Police. 

There is clear evidence of corruption and political interference in the NGO registration process. The government’s policy is tricky on the issue of NGO registration, especially the NGO affairs bureau, which is under the prime minister’s office in name, but is mainly controlled by intelligence instruments like the DGFI and the NSI. It is notable that there are several Islamic fascist proponents placed in various important government instruments, including intelligence organizations, during the term of the BNP alliance government. 

We have had a past record of 34 foreign funded major Islamic non-governmental organizations (NGO) and 15 are very active ngo’s back in year 2005. In 1999, the intelligence agencies tracked an NGO named Suffering Humanity International, which had vibrant relations with Islamic fascists to establish an Islamic dictatorship in Bangladesh.  

The Islamic fascists have fully succeeded in forming a shadow government in Bangladesh. The Islamic fascist outfit Ngo turned the money in several long time investments such as in Banking, health and hospital and education sector. In the time of need they will control the market and destabilize country. Even the same quarter has engulfed in the print and media sector with an ulterior motive to play ideological propaganda.  

The same quarter is nursing to bring new crisis before the government where the treatment of government is very poor. After the pilkahan revolt the prisons are the next target of the vested quarter to destabilize the country. The vested quarter is using prisons as recruiting office to strengthen their terrorist activities. The young people come out from the prison and join the source outside and take part in destructive works.  

The government should make it very clear to make the whole ngo activities free from the influence of the Intelligence and politics to safe the country from further massive failure. The Islamic ngos has turned into shadow government in Bangladesh and the highest threat before Bangladesh as well as to the security of south Asian region.

He thinks that Canada’s liberal immigration law created an atmosphere, where it is really easy for these terrorists to get into the country and carry out their activities. There are 40+ Muslim terrorist organizations that are active in Canada right now. He wants the Canadian government and the US government to work together to annihilate Islamic terrorism activities from North America.

Tamir brings out a valid point here. I am very much aware of Islamic extremism in Canada as I am from there. This is very scary that the mosques in Canada can carry out anti-western sentiments and people do not do anything about it. I hope Tamir’s call resonate among the general population of Canada and the government really does something to curve extremism among the certain sector of Muslim population.

Not less, more than Mumbai, Bangladesh will face mass destruction of Islamic terrorism in forth coming election. The Islamic extremist groups are deploying their well trained combatants’ country wide. They arms of mass destruction are gathered in the central commanding point.

It will be a Sub continental Tsunami of Islamic terrorism and peak point of systemic beginning of Islamic theocracy in Bangladesh. The attack may introduce a new “Butto” of Bangladesh. The DGFI and NSI seem cool in fighting the Islamic terrorism. I have shared the information with the international community. What is the reason behind the coolness of DGFI and NSI in fighting the Islamic terrorism?

Indian Muslims Burning Indian Flag

Albert Einstein once said “The world is a dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don’t do anything about it.” What happened in Mumbai in the closing days of November 2008 was evil. The terrorists who planned and financed it were evil. The terrorists who carried it out were evil. And the terrorists who provided tactical and other support were evil. That should surprise no one. People long have known the depths of depravity to which radical Islam is capable of sinking. Have they not given us ample evidence?

 Just since the September 11, 2001 bombings that killed over 3000 Americans, radical Islamists have carried out over 11,000 terror attacks worldwide. While they were not the first to use suicide bombers or hijack airplanes, Islamists carried both to new heights as their principle weapons of terror. They have blown up schools and students, driven busses into crowds of people, set off terror bombs on public transportation and elsewhere in dozens of countries throughout Asia and Europe. Their leaders openly call for genocide against Jews and Hindus, and their followers are trying to carry out those calls. Wherever they have had the power to do so, they deliberately destroy religious shrines and houses of worship and brag about it as step in destroying other faiths or variants of Islam. And then they have the gall to claim that these things were done because they were angry at some perceived offense, frustrated at their current living conditions, or defending their own warped conception of human rights. So, while terrible, are the events that unfolded in ten locations across Mumbai anything new or surprising? Did the terrorists do anything they have not promised us they would do?

The tragedy is that these events could have been prevented. Radical Islam has been warning the rest of us that it means to re-make our planet in its own image and kill anybody that threatens to stand in its way. Its practitioners have vowed repeatedly to destroy India as an abomination against Islam; yet its leaders act as if they were only kidding. Despite the country experiencing almost non-stop Islamist attacks, the ruling Congress Party maintains a strict policy of non-confrontation with home-grown Muslims who support the radical organizations. It recently showed far more zeal in prosecuting an alleged “Hindu terrorist” after a bomb went off in a predominantly Muslim town. The accused Hindu priest was interrogated several times, despite the fact that her only tie to the bombing was a car used in the attack, which 38 year-old Sadhwi Pragya Singh Thakur had sold years before. In a policy of appeasement similar to Britain’s (which was also a target in the Mumbai attacks), that same government deliberately refrains from identifying terrorists as Muslim.

Indian Hindus often complain that the government is not carrying out its mandate of secularism but practices a “pseudo-secularism” that bends over backwards to favor minorities even if it means heaping disabilities on Hinduism or Hindus. Its recently-passed budget contained millions in subsidies for Muslims to go on the Hajj to Mecca and pilgrimages to Jerusalem; but not a penny for the numerous but uncounted Hindu refugees from Islamist ethnic cleansing in Bangladesh. Other groups are agitating because the government took possession of Hindu temples but refuses to maintain them.

A few days back, someone named “Allah Ke Bande” left a horrible comment against Hindus in general. I didn’t make a big deal out of this because I wanted people to realize the impact of Islamic Extremism that the world needs to encounter.

This is the time for us to reflect on the deaths and victims of Islamic extremism that people need to encounter on a daily basis. This is just one attack but for thousands of years, Hindus, Christians and Jews have to live with these types of radicalism from Islam. The funniest thing is that killing innocent people actually has been working for the Muslim extremists. The world population is not doing enough to end this extremism.

I said before and I am saying again. Certain aspects of Islam has problems and Muslims need to clarify those aspects. If Muslims don’t clarify the positions on Islam then more hatred will arise on the Muslims themselves.

Mumbai again becomes the victim of a terrorist attack. However, this time it is much serious. I am pretty sure because of the extensive coverage by CNN and other media we all know what happened. A bunch of terrorists decided to go crazy with their guns and kill innocent people.

This is not the first time India is facing these types of attacks. The problem is that India is not doing anything to make the nation safe(r) for its citizens. Every time there is an attack, we see Indian government going ahead and condemning the attacks and playing thier same boring record, “terrorism has no religion.” This is getting annoying now.

Muslim Jihadi Terrorism

If you are not willing to do anything about it then you will continue to face the wrath of Islamic terrorists. The US was like that too before 9/11. Now, they hyped up their security and they can figure out possible terrorist plots before they take place. For instance, today, the Feds figured out that NY trains would be targetted by Islamic terrorists. 

India just doesn’t have the technology or initiatives currently to carry out such a fast action as the americans. That’s why India needs to have an alliance with Israel and the US to destroy Muslim terrorism.

The Southern part of Asia today really deserves a break from all these Islamic fundamentalism and extremism. We are sick and tired of Hindus, Christians and Buddhists getting killed, tortoured and discriminated in Bangladesh & Pakistan. India is the nation that has the financial and military capability to take initiative in reducing Islamic terrorism. 

Muslims also need to come forward and redefine Islam and terrorism to the world. Not all Muslims are terrorists but 95% terrorists are Muslims. People that’s why do question Islam. Muslims need to look into their communities and their interpretations to see what is going wrong. We, the outsiders can always analyze whatever but the real change has to become within the Muslim communities.

Malaysia Bans Muslims from Yoga

A few days back I talked about how an American school is allowing the students to practice yoga without calling it Yoga. Now, more drama.

Muslim clerics of Malaysia issues a fatwa on Yoga. They believe this practice has Hindu elements…and we cannot have Muslims following kaffir influenced things, can we? You know, this is interesting. No matter how much we make fun of the Americans, the Muslim clerics always cross the limits and do something hilariously ridiculous thing.

Yoga is an ancient art of living healthy. Just because this rose from ancient Hindu philosophy it doesn’t mean just practicing yoga you become a Hindu. This is a cultural discovery. Now, the Christians invented computers, iPhone and all other cool stuff, why don’t the Muslim clerics put a ban on all these things? Those are all kaffir influenced devilish materials.

Well, it doesn’t work that way. They take the convinient path and it’s convinient to ban Yoga but a big hassle to ban the internet. We do have to mention though that youtube, wikipedia and all other Satanic websites had been banned by Malaysia, Pakistani and other Islamic countries. For sometime around mid 1990s, the Satanic internet was totally banned in Bangladesh. That’s a big achievement Bangladesh should be proud of.

The thing is that doing these types of things these clerics are really turning Muslims in general a laughing stock to the whole world.

Anyways, I totally consider myself to be a Hindu but I don’t do yoga. I have friends, who don’t call them Hindus but do Yoga all the time. People, who want to do yoga will do it in their private places regardless of stupid fatwas.

The Islamic authorities have issued a ruling, known as a fatwa, instructing the country’s Muslims to avoid yoga because of its Hindu roots.

To most people yoga is simply a sport – a stress-busting start to the day.

Malaysia’s National Fatwa Council said it goes further than that and that elements of the Indian religion are inherent in yoga.

Announcing the decision, the council chairman Abdul Shukor Husin said practices like chanting and what he called worshipping were inappropriate and they could “destroy the faith of a Muslim”.

The ruling is not legally binding but many of Malaysia’s Muslims abide by fatwas.
Yoga classes here are filled with mostly non-Muslim Malaysians of Chinese or Indian descent, but in the major cities it is not uncommon to see several Muslim women at classes.

Hindu Mourning Death by Islamic Militants

Abul Kasem, a Bangladeshi ex-Muslim left Islam because of a sad experience that he encountered when he was young. In his own words,

You might wonder what had triggered my distaste for religion. It all started in my schooldays when I witnessed the slaughter of a dear Hindu friend of mine (along with his entire family members) in Chandpur, Bangladesh. I can never erase that memory from my mind.

That was a devastating experience, no doubt. But more shocking thing was that many Muslims were actually happy about that and even went further to support the idea that we (Muslims) should kill more Hindus because the Muslims in India are being slaughtered too.

It was also declared by some Muslim clerics that killing of non-muslims is an act of jihad and therefore, any one participating in jihad will be rewarded with heaven.

At that tender edge I knew very little of Islam and nothing about other religions. However, the little conscience inside me told me that what was being done and what was being practiced were not right. However, I had little power to change the course of event.

Hindus in Bangladesh have experienced disgusting acts of violence for a long time. People like Abul Kasem spoke out against it but he has been silenced by fanatics from his religion. Therefore, he decided to look deep into Islam and decided to leave the religion for good.

It’s his choice whether to leave Islam or not. We are not here to judge Islam . The judgement lies within every person. However, we do welcome Abul Kasem for making noise about his situation.

Here’s the deal. Jordan arrests this poet, who uses Quranic verses in his poem. He is accused of having insulted the Quran.  However religious verses and quotations from scriptures have been used in poetry for years. Numerous poets have taken the scriptural beauty of the Gita and have put them into their own words. There is nothing wrong with that.

The freedom of speech for a lot of the middle-east is just pathetic. Its non-existent. The Middle-east needs to become less oppressive and recognize the fact that in a civilized world freedom of speech is an inherent right. The poets need to be given their freedom to express whatever they so please in their own ways.

Jordanian writers and artists urged the government in a collective petition to immediately release the poet, saying the arrest is a “retreat in the freedom of expression,” and called for an end to the “oppression of freedom and intimidation practiced against intellectuals.”

A link between terrorism plots and hardcore child pornography is becoming clear after a string of police raids in Britain and across the Continent, an investigation by The Times has discovered. Images of child abuse have been found during Scotland Yard antiterrorism swoops and in big inquiries in Italy and Spain.

Secret coded messages are being embedded into child pornographic images, and paedophile websites are being exploited as a secure way of passing information between terrorists.

British security services are also aware of the trend and believe that it requires further investigation to improve understanding of terrorists’ methods and mindsets. Concerns within the Metropolitan Police led to a plan to run a pilot research project exploring the nature of the link. One source familiar with the proposal said that this could eventually lead to the training of child welfare experts to identify signs of terrorist involvement as they monitor pornographic sites.

Concerns have already been expressed at Cabinet minister level about the risk of vulnerable Muslim youths being exploited by older men.
