(Indian) bloggers need to neutralize the media!

Posted by: kobiyal   in Technology, india

This has really been annoying me the last few weeks. Don’t get me wrong, I have been a minority all my life. The place where I grew up, I was the only Hindu in the whole area. I understand the minority issues and strive for equality more than anyone else.

At the end of the day, everyone wants peace. This will happen when there is a mutual understanding between the groups. However, for political and votebank reasons the Indian media has been really alienating the Hindu group. If this continues more disturbances and mistrust will arise among the population.

Whenever there is a terrorist attack carried out by Islamist radical organizations, the Indian media always downplays the incidence and uses ambiguous terms such as “anti-Indians” or “disoriented youths” etc. However, whenever there is a remote chance of any Hindu involvement on anything, they don’t hesitate to point out the Hindu involvement

How many terrorist attacks have taken place in India that have been carried out by Islamist organizations? In the last 3 months there has been at least one attack each month. The government hasn’t done a single thing but the media such as IBN and others jumped on the boat of calling Indians intolerant and that they are wrong in calling terrorists “Islamists.” They also point fingers at BJP for calling Islamist terrorists, “Islamist terrorist.” Are you serious?

Sagarika Ghost of IBN even blamed BJP for protesting against legalizing SIMI. This is a democracy for God’s sake. We are allowed to protest against whatever we like. Legalizing SIMI had no impact whatsoever. This was an ideological battle defeated in India by the pro-peace and pro-democracy people.

I am sick and tired of these types of double standards in the media. My friend, this is called “pseuedo secularism” not at all “secularism.”

That’s why blogging becomes so freaking important. This gives us a voice to fight back against the media. Whenever there is an article in the Indian media acting all “psuedo-secularizing”, we see 10-15 comments neutralizing that article. This is what we need…taking full advantage of Web 2.0. Neutralizing the media.

This is also a trend in the US/Canada. Web 2.0 is a huge force. A lot of people tend to learn and believe a lot from the web interactions rather than what is implied in the media. Therefore, Indians need to get this started. More bloggers need to enter into the arena. The internet is becoming a big force in India and as a result we saw the Indian government banning blogspot.com a few years back.

An effective blogging community can bring about changes and raise awareness in the community. The PC myth needs to stop! Appeasement needs to stop!

During Mubai mayhem I watched NDTV live TV on internet and I was aghast to see how a media channel taking the side of the ruling party in the guise of so-called “people’s hate against politicians”. They were all over Raj Thakareys and Modis rather than raising the question which was most relevant at that moment, that is, a Govt. and the security under the custody of the so-called Home minister had utterly failed and people were eager to know what went so wrong with the security apparatus and what is that the Govt. is going to do. It was even more irritating when one of the NDTV corresponding went one step ahead suggesting there is no point in asking the current home minister to resign while the general elections are round the corner..!!!! I could not believe this to myself while I was hearing this from the correspondent. This is the kind of failure that any honest minister would have felt ashamed and taken retirement from the politics altogether but here we have a media which shows the audacity to suggest people why that minister should continue…!!! I have seen time and again how Ms.Burkha Dutt shows tremendous affinity to any participant from minority community , her body language is so affectionate towards them, which will even more be exaggerated if that person is styling a typical Islamic beard, and goes on delivering vicious comments about the pro-Hindu organizations including BJP. Next when I saw NDTV was when the election results were out and I could not fail to notice the glow and the smiles on the face all three-some NDTVians, to name, Mr.Pranay Roy, Mr.Vikram and Ms.Burkha Dutt. It is a well known fact that how the congress shamelessly uses the govt. organizations like AIR, CBI etc to further the party’s interest which they have done from decades. It seems now they have gone ahead one step further to dominate and influence the private media channels like NDTV which only has to be seen to believe. I have given up about any kind of neutrality (forget the just cause) from any media in our country and for the same reason I have cut my TV connections. From past 6 or more months I don’t have TV connection in my home which I have done it voluntarily.

what you call muslim terrorism is actually kashmir liberation struggle. no other muslims other than kashmiris involved. open up local news papers from indian states. you can find dozens of terror acts daily by hindus in assam, tripura, west bengal ets but under different names but not hindu. muslim or islamic does not go with terrorism unless the act is done to harm your religion.likewise, hindu does not go with terrorism either unless it is destruction of babri mosque or massacre in gujrat

Adnan, your analysis is not correct. The so-called Islamic terrorists are fighting for Islam specifically. The Naxal terrorism that you are talking about in Assam, they are not fighting for Hinduism and therefore, they cannot be branded as Hindu terrorism. The incidents at Babri Masjid and Gujarat was mutual. Both incidents were sparked by Muslim extremists leading to an unfortunate calamity.
