We Were Bought by Awami League

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Politics

We were, bought completely by them, by one a single party of Bangladesh. They were harsh and we still voted them, as if we were their servants. Even now, they are a curse on us, the minority and what are the minorities doing? They are still wanting to be servants of those Awami League members. Why, one might ask, and the answer is I do not even know even though I, myself am one minority from Bangladesh.

The Arpita Sampatti Protapon law of 2009 passed through the government’s offices quite quickly. It is said that with this new law, the government will send one district judge for the tribunal for every district. They said, in Bangladesh two lakh acres of land are in the government’s control under the vested property act. The other 4 lakh acres of land is unknown to the government and in what condition they are in. Then there is Sultana Kamal who said “they will be giving the lands back to their original owners”. Others claim that 26 lakh acres of land in under the vested property act, and did they say it was only 6 lakh acres?

First like the articles claim, they want a definition for “satru” and who they are calling that to. Under the rules, there has to be a gadget published for the list of lands, create district based tribunal and set up dates for the ruling, remove the words that claim that one has to be Bangladeshi citizen and give the land to other family members, partners and sufferers of this act.

BD Excluded From US HR Watchlist

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Bangladesh

Bangladesh has been dropped out from United States’ HR list of the Human Rights list meaning that the US government is happy with the situation of human rights in Bangladesh over minorities, women and any that follow. It was said that because of the current Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina, this was archived. The ambassador said, “The United States excluded the name of Bangladesh from its watch list on November 3 following the improvement of situation in various human rights fields.” They also mentioned that during the BNP-Jamaat government, this was not possible, and empowerment and development of women was another achievement for the Bangladeshis.

Forcing Islam: A New Way

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Islam

A new report has come up in Dr. Richard Benkin’s blog about forcefully confirming a woman to Islam. This case was reported by Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christan Unity Council and Global Human Rights Defense and the Bangladesh Minority Watch has investigated on the issue. It is reported that Koli Goswami, a 20 year old college student’s house was broken to get at least 5 Muslim and a government official broke into her house at 12:45 AM on June 13, 2008. They violated through the house to her and even through the girl tried to aleart the nearby neighbors about it by screaming aloud, the gang members fired their guns to keep them out of the way.

In this gang, Tauhidul Islam Bhuiya (Sumon) is in murder charges and even though he is supposed to in trials, he remains free. When police came, they said: “It is not kidnapping. It is love affairs between kidnapper and victim” and to many this does not seem like a love affair. The police do not want to keep in the flow with this case and evne though they have looked upon the case in video, the physical harm done to the house, the cry from the girl’s uncle, and the request from the family to help them get Koli back.

This still stays the same, Richard Benkin said in his blog, that the victims are commonly the young girls, women, and sometimes bodys. The government official that was in the issue suggested that the govenment is supporting these types of kidnapping and harrasing, converting a human to take against their will. What the Muslims have to understand is that even though they might think that forcing someone to go against their own will might make their religion more powerful, well, that might now become the case. They have to userstand that if they do not show the good path, one day the ones that were Muslim due to their ancestors for a long time will quit Islam and say that it is a forceful religion. If this continues, then one day the religion that was built forcefully will be closed down with no power from the physical strength but the mental.

We Are Looking Upon You AL

Posted by: Sodeep    in Bangladesh, Politics

Creative Moment.

The minority Hindus of Bangladesh are looking back at the Awami League again to seek for their freedom that they had once lost when the BNP government came up. But still, we have not seen what we thought would watch when after the long term of the interim government and their dominance. We thought that we would watch all the Hindus free from the grip that had held them so sceard for all these time but still it doesn’t seem to come out of it.

In Ittefaq, a report came up with an incident on the first of August, 2009 (click here to read it from Ittefaq’s site). Bangladeshi newspaper called Shomokal, Sangbad, Daily Nayadiganta, Daily Jugantar, Daily Janakantha are still publishing stories with incidents that are happening till this day in the lives of those Hindus. But AL till now has not shown any improvement among the citizens of Bangladesh. In PresecutionBD.com, a site fully dedicated to those Hindus and minorities that are suffering the pain, it bought up a news that we see in the Hindus of Narshindi. The Hindus of Narshindi are still looking for justice on the July 25th incident that happened this year after the Awami League government was selected. After reading about it in PresecutionBD, I went to a site that preserves these reports that happened against the Hindus.

Translated from the report: “Just to get control of Hindu’s cemetry area in Narshindi Palash, 4 minority houses were treated savagely. They broke down the houses, robbed from them that they saw were valuable. In their attack, including woman 5 were injured. The villagers have said that Jainal was the leader of this gang and they broke down the cemetry area then threw them down to the river where the current picked it all up.”

Now here comes the government at this and how this crime is investigated: “The police have arrested a girl names Swathi (I just want to say, how can a girl do this?) Now the loot that happened at the scene was nothing small but it was big with the amount of money that they stole, gold that they found and they also looted cellphones that were making the price go up to one lakh takas.

Yes, I can agree that it is not the Awami League government that is doing all these but they could at least investigate upon this. This is the minorities that always give them the vote and no one else but still why are these minorities getting so much less notice? Aren’t these minorities humans? It might sould as if it is only us that are yelling, well in Bangladesh what other minorities are going on? For example will the poor are being treated badly but they are not being treated badly because of who they are but what they have. If we treat human beings because of their beliefs, then I just want to ask to those that are being racist “Where is the World standing at this stage today?”

Do Hindus believe in reincernation?

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism

Hinduism Reincarnation Religion Rebirth

Reincarnation in Hinduism

Yes, Hindus believe that the soul is immortal and from our birth to our death, we learn lesson throughout our life and evolve spiritually. Then finally we could be out of physical birth. Carnate means of flesh and reincarnate means to “reenter the flesh”. Life and death are only realities for all of us and the soul always remains in life, without death. Physical death is the most natural transition or transformation which survives and is guided by karma. Every person has had been through many lives and they will continue until all the lessons that are to be learned are learned. This is when the person will attain moksha and will be taken out of physical body. You will no longer be born or die. Reincarnation is believed by Jains, Sikhs and Indians of Americas, Pagans, and many other faiths of religion.

At death, the soul leaves the physical body, as stated above. It lives in on a subtle body called astral body. The astral body exists in nonphysical dimension and this is the world that we see in dreams at night when we sleep. Here is where we continue to have other experiences until we are reborn again. Each of these reincarnating soul chooses a home and a family which can fulfill it’s learning and maturing life. After each of the life are matured, it follows love, wisdom and knowledge of God. At this situation, there is no longer a need for physical birth and then the soul gets off the liberated and out of the cycle of life which includes birth, death and rebirth. This evolution continues as you don’t have to go back to it any more just as if you are going from elementary school to high school.

So, life’s unlimate goal are not anything that are materlialistic but transendental. This changes every fear of death from you when you know that your soul is not going to be destroyed. Every reincarnation in the life are for you to same spiritual destiny of God realization.

Why do Hindus have so much Gods?

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism

Hindu Gods

Hindu Gods

Back in the Spring of 1990, six college students sent 9 questions to Hinduism Today. But to make the explanation better, Hinduism Today had included another question to make it 10 questions that they answered. First remember that if the person is trying to convince you to their thoughts, then do not answer. Smile at them and show them that it is nothing to make you conviced by making you change your thought and you belief. Also remember not to answer a question about religon as if you are sure or fast because you had not thought about it at all. Offer a prolouge first to introduce the problem. This way, you have the time to think and start your conversation. Ask the questioner what his religion is and knowing that you can keep it in his understanding knowledge. Don’t be afraid to answer these questions, even meaningful answers would be taken into great consideration.

The Hinduism Today had included these prologues in their article and they are pasted here too.

  1. I am really pleased that you are interested in my religion. You may not know that one out of six people in the world are Hindu.
  2. Many people have asked me about my tradition. I don’t know everything but I will try to answer your question.
  3. First, you should know that in Hinduism, it is not only belief and intellectual understanding that is important. Hindus place the greatest value of experiencing each of those truths personally.
  4. You can also say the question back to see if the person has questioned you correctly.

Why Not Hindus

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism

Why cannot the Hindus in Bangladesh get the same benefit that the Muslims are getting in India? Is it all because we are Hindus, a minor group with little amount of population? Hindus in the world are 650-900 million and that is not a huge number on the population of the world which is about 1.57% and decreasing day by day from the last two decades. Is this number decreasing because of racism or many other factors?

For only the Indian Muslims, there are the The Muslim Personal Law (Shariat) Application Act 1937 which gives the Muslims in the right to marriage, dower, divorce, maintenance, gift, waqf and inheritance. But for the Hindus in Bangladesh, which is a country right next to India and have a majority or Muslims do not have any law supporting the Hindus and the minorities but have against it.

One of that is the Vested Property Act which was actually made by the leader or the Father of the Country, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman who made the law that if any person, a Hindu left the country to India, then the governement had the right to take over the property that was owned by that Hindu. The pronounced that if you go to India, you are the country’s enemy but if you go to Pakistan or any other country, you are not considered to be enemy of the country.

So, still why do the Muslims in India consider themselves minority and still want more benefit? Did they get the same hardships that the Hindus are getting in Bangladesh and many other Middle East countries like Pakistan and Afganistan? They do not even have the same factors that they are watching. But still why do they want more and more freedom? Do they want to stop their worship that the Hindus are doing and people like me who had seen all those know about it all. Yeah it might have changed a little bit now with the new government, but why was it even stopped at the first place? What if the Muslims in India were not able to celebrate their Eid like us who can’t celebrate our Durga Puja?

Vested Property Act

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Bangladesh

The Vested Property Act of Bangladesh is a very controversial law of Bangladesh which involves the Independence War of Bangladesh. This law allowed the ones who were gone during the war of 1971 in Bangladesh’s Independence War, not to gain their property back.
This law has been renamed to the “Vested Property Act of Bangladesh” in 1974. You can simply declare someone an enemy of the country (Bangladesh) and make the property to be gone from their hands to the government’s.
What that meant?
First, let’s look at figures. The amount of property that can be declared to “enemy” state is 702,335 acres (2,842 km²) and 22,835 homes are listed in these lands. Much of this land is from Dhirendranath Dutta, a Hindu politician in Bangladesh after the war period. His body was never found after the Pakistanis took him and it is said that he had not left the country by his own thinking. Nobel Prize winner Amartya Sen’s property’s were confiscated by the Pakistani government. In 1999, the Bangladeshi government started investigating in this case but there is not much information about their progress.

Professor Barkat of Dhaka University took a survey and a research about what the regular citizens think about who has taken the vested properties. In his Inquiry into Causes and Consequences of Deprivation of Hindu Minorities in Bangladesh through the Vested Property Act, it mentioned more of the statistics about the vested properties. About 40% of the Hindus or 925,050 Hindu families of Bangladesh were affected by this act.

Now to add it all up, which party took over most of these properties?
Bangladesh Awami League 44.2%
Bangladesh Nationalist Party 31.7%
Jatiya Party 5.8%
Jamaat-e-Islami 4.8%
Others 13.5%

Akbar’s Connection with Race

Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism, india

Why are the Hindus being demolished in Bangladesh? There are a lot of reasons to that. The Muslims, the radical ones for sure and one that everyone suggests. But isn’t there anything else than that? Isn’t there problem with the Hindus themselves? Aren’t we giving up our land that every Hindu calls their land, India in the hands of Muslims? From the period of Akabar, we have not taken care of where we are currently staying but only caring about how we can manage our property.

Let’s look at that time period. Akbar had married Haraka Bai, a Hindu. She was Raja Bharmal’s daughter. Akbar persuaded both Bharmal and Rajput to take her. This was the turning point that everyone thinks is responsible for what happened afterwards. Now there was not much difference between the Hindus and the Muslims. She even changed her name to Mariam-uz-zamani to make herself look much more like a Muslim.

Now we could see that everything that ever happened in history has to have a beginning. Now where did this have the beginning of racial discrimination in South Asia? For me, I think that this started from here because she was never let to visit her father’s property and she had to stay in a outcast area, sometimes not even with her husband so that she could not make another problem in Akbar’s kingdom.

RaniI Santayana, Ph.D.

The statement aims to reveal a rough scenario of the continuing different institutional persecution on the grounds of religion and ethnicity. Simultaneously to alert the civilised Nations of the systematic rapid increasing of radical Islamic extremism, who steadily aimed to cleanse the 14 mln. Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and other tribes, the religious minorities, from Bangladesh to make it a pure Islamic, a neo-Talibani Bangladesh.

Eliminating the minorities took place since August 14, 1947. But they have gained unprecedented
momentum ever since the Islamic hardliners assumed power with an absolute majority in the parliament in October, 2001.(*1) It allowed them to make Bangladesh a ‘freehold’ Islamic country. Since then, the BNP armed cedars with their associates Jamat and other Muslim extremists have conducted deliberate, systemetic, unprovoked, savage attacks on minorities.

Atrocities have typically included brutal torture and ghastly murders of intellectuals, priests, and monks; gang rape and mass rape of women, forcible conversion to Islam; imposition of exorbitant tax; desecration and razing of temples, pagodas, and churches; destructing the deities; looting, razing, and burning down of homes and businesses. They then leave with such ultimatums as: ”Either convert to Islam by January 10 or else you will be driven out of the country”(*2).

These persecutions for the religious minorities started since 1947 when Bangladesh had been East
Pakistan. In 1971 liberation war, majority of the victims were Hindus, who were killed (3 million), forced to flee(10 million), women, who were raped (100,000) and many more were assaulted, whose houses were burned, demolished, properties were extorted. These became state-sponsored in independent Bangladesh since the 5th amendment, when the Parliament abolished ‘Secularism’ as one of the 4th fundamental principles of our Constitution. In 8th amendment, ‘Islam’ has been declared as the state religion. The weekly Holiday had been changed from ‘Sunday’ to ‘Friday’, which inspired the Muslim become openly extremists and to move forward.(*3)

Even, the Elite minorities could not be protected by the authorities. 5 minorities professors of Chittagong University have been threatened to be killed if they fail to leave Bangladesh immediately(*4).

The BNP and Jamat armed cedars have not even spared 4 to 8 years girls, after tearing them from their mothers’ arms, they have cut wide their genitalia and raped them repeatedly in turn, even though the girls became unconscious and were bleeding profusely. In the case of minorities, they have mass raped, and routinely gang raped minor daughters and mothers together, forcing the vulnerable sons, brothers and fathers to watch.(*5)

The perpetrators had threatened in advance to fathers of young daughters, who failed to pay the exorbitant tax saying’ Uncle, we will visit you to night,so get ready to entertain us’. This made ten thousands of minorities to flee Bangladesh en masse, in yet another wave of exodus to India.(*6)

The ruling BNP, Jamat and other Islamic extremist political parties openly represent pro-Taliban forces in Bangladesh. The leaders of these parties are partners of crime. For example, the Harkat-ul
Jihad-I-Islami(HUJI) was declared a terrorist organisation by the Office of the Coordinator for the
Global Terrorism/US dept. of State,May21,2001. Fajlur Rahman of HUJI signed an official declaration of ‘holy war’ like Bin Laden against the USA on Feb.23, 1998.(*7)

Why? No Answer?

Posted by: Sodeep    in Bangladesh, Hinduism

Before writing this article, I had tested some of my idea with the help of the internet. I used the Facebook and the help from amarblog.com to do this. amarblog.com is a site made by a Hindu man (that is what I know) and it is here where you can write anything you like. It can be free to write about anything from your point of view on religion to politics to even daily life stories. Also, I saw that their slogan was “It is my blog, whatever it can be”. So I wrote a little article about bangladeshihindu.com in that blog.

I got really scared at the fact that came up in the comments. You can have a look at those comments here, but they are all in Bengali. I titled my article New Site. What came was really really awful. The second comment said “I didn’t look at the site and posted a comment. Now I am going to kick you out. You Indian f**ker.” When the third comment came, it said that it liked the site and told me to change some phonetic version of the site. But the 1, 2nd commenter commented again. Now he said: Its for Indians. There are problems between Hindus and Muslim, which is not a problem. But look at the look at the problem in Bangladesh. To make a problem here, these bi**h have come. When another person named creation101 started writing back to him with all those bad languages, the problem rose some more. The first user named Makorsha or Spider said “The people from India always think grammar first, not the people from North America. And I am from there you stupid.”

Then Sourav joined spider and started to blame creation101. calling him a scoundrel. Another user named arirang said “Spider, I cannot stop thanking you. Kick them all out of here”. It continued and continued making fun of me and fun of what I wrote and the site. No one was thinking that if there are sites about Muslims, then why cannot there be any for Hindus and even if they wanted to blame us, they should have kept it with convincing words, not curses.

Then I wrote another small article in that blog about Qur’an in Facebook. Its about this new application that has come out about the Qur’an. First I got a lot of start, all 5 out of 5. Then I got two comments thanking me for posting something that is this valuable.
You can have a look at it here: http://amarblog.com/ssdt/25829

So what should I generalize at last? Should I say that these Muslims can only think about themselves. They think that anything else than Muslim is awful. But did the Qur’an say that they should do something like that? Or are they only using the Qur’an as a backup of everything that they do? They want to prove that their religion is the best and where can they have peace then they don’t have peace between themselves?

These questions will not be answered. But if you have a comment about this, please let me know. I would like to hear more from Muslims who have studied their religion and tell me if this is told in their religion. And if not, I am still looking for the answer of why they are doing this. If you can help me find the answer for that, please post comments.

A True Memoir of Peace

Posted by: Sodeep    in Politics, india

Mahatma Gandhi

Mahatma Gandhi

We are all familiar with the name of Mahatma Gandhi. He is one of the most influential person in the world at this time period. He has been the father of a country that is well remembered as a country of secularism. The religion that is in that country is viewed differently than that is in the other countries. The part of his way to solve the country and the problems that followed were taken differently and solved differently. He is currently remembered as one of the most influential man in the South Asia because no one followed his rule and the concept like he did other ways.

He wrote a autobiography to encourage others to the way to fight these problems without any other harm to the others or without using any violence. His autobiography can be listed here: http://www.nalanda.nitc.ac.in/resources/english/etext-project/biography/gandhi/

From this we hope that other world leaders will learn and fight using non-violence. That is why it is encouraged to read this book and learn from this.

Women in Hinduism

   Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism

I was inspired to write this when I came face to face with a question about the rights of Hindu women. It was started due to the controversy that women of Muslim religion are not given that much rights. Here I am not going to criticize that religion but I am going to say what our religion says about this. It is based on my research on the Vedas.

If we look in the Rig Veda, then we can see in Samhita, part 1, sukta 79, sloka 872 that-
laxmipuja“The wife should do agnihotra (yagna), sandhya (puja) and all other daily religious rituals. If, for some reason, her husband is not present, the woman alone has full rights to do yagna.”. So this means that the women has the same right has the men to worship the God. They are allowed to go to the Mandirs or Temples whenever they want to. Even in some religions we cannot find that happen.

Most importantly, in Hinduism, the women has the right that they deserve. I will not say that it is the best because anything in this world can be better, but I can say that it is definitely one of the most thoughtful work done by the past ancestors of this religion. We can see that all of our God has a female version creating a join between these two. It is due to this that we currently have something where the females of Hinduism can worship them and anyone they like and the male can worship anyone they like.

They are also given the title of Mother who has all the love that a mother provides for their child and that is why they are looked differently in Hinduism and given the right to do anything they think that is good because if there was none of them, then there might have not been this men here in this world. Hinduism has reformed the age with the rules that isolated women in the religion. It said that when a man dies, the woman or the wife has to sacrifce herself with the man. King Ram Mohon Roy has transformend this believe to something that we now all know as the theme that it is not due to them that the man died. So why should the other get punished for that. Ishwar Chandra Vidwashagar has also transformend the fact that anyone who is a women and doesn’t have the husband can’t marry after the death of the Husband. This has been changed to something that we all know now that they can beacuse Hinduism is a religion of transformation and change. It is not by the man of 700 B.C. where there was no technolongy of anything. So now after the change from that we can see how the man and woman have the same amount of rights in the social places and not like before where after the man had their wife dead could go and marry another woman.

The world has changed and the religion has changed and that is needed or else nothing would to allowed to happen to the society of Hinduism. God Vishnu has mentioned in the Vishnupuran after creating Laxmi that like a lotus is not the lotus without its scent, the same way a man is not full without the woman. So they come hand in hand creating something that is as dynamic as the World.

A True Experience

Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism, Politics

This is a memoir of my life when I was living in Bangladesh. I had moved to the United States after some months after this incident. It is my true experience on the racism that was going on against us, the Hindus of Bangladesh. We all know that Bangladesh is a country that is mostly populated by the Muslims. I myself do not think that it is bad that it happens like that. But the fact that we are not allowed to keep our beliefs and the things together will keep all the things there.

It was the Durga Puja in our village house. It was full of all the people of the village who were all happy to celebrate in this festival. But here there seemed to be some problems. It was one year after the BNP government was taken in for the governing body for the country. So there seemed to be problems for the Hindus in that village from the beginning of this and that is why we had some police in our house so that they would fix any problems that we faced when the festival was going on.

My grandfather, an old man who was about 81-84 years old was in the festival and working had to make the festival great for anyone who came to see it. But then there came two 19-21 year old boy. They were smoking in the front of the festival ground. It is all fine with the work festival until they came to the front of the God and they were all making all the ash from their cigarette to fall in front of the God. They even asked and forced my Grandfather to give them more of these smoke. We he refused they got mad at him and all of us came together to to force them get out of our house area. But they were refusing to get out of the area. Even the police were not doing anything for the work.

So they all cursed our God and saying bad words for the the family when they left. From then on we knew that this was the last for our Durga Puja and it was all done for the good for us because we knew we would not have a great time again if we try this festival again.

“The goal which all the Vedas declare, which all austerities aim at, and which men desire when they lead the life of continence … is Om. This syllable Om is indeed Brahman. Whosoever knows this syllable obtains all that he desires. This is the best support; this is the highest support. Whosoever knows this support is adored in the world of Brahma.”
~ Katha Upanishad I

Happy Diwali

Diwali is a holiday celebrated by believers of Hinduism, Shikism, Buddism and Jainsim. It is the celebration on the day of Kali Puja. It was started by the incarnation of Lord Vishnu who was Ram at this time. He was the current ruler of Ayodha and it is celebrated because on the day of Dussehra, he killed the demon Ravan who had taken Ram’s wife, Sita. Ram worked with Laxman (Ram’s brother) and Hanuman who was the incarnation of Lord Shiva and a devotee of Ram. Ram fights with Ravan in that day and finishes the last demon of Treta Yuga.

He later returns to his kingdom of Ayodha. That day, Ayodha was jubilant and celebrated with fireworks and lamps lighting up their houses. Through this day this is the celebration that has been celebrated all around India with fireworks and lamps.

সময়

Posted by: Sodeep    in Hinduism,
